All that is many years in the past for us. We are now the senior generation, or coffin dodgers (as I oft quote).

"Coffin dodgers" Heheh. I like it! :]]

I hope you're having a good day, Artful Coffin Dodger.

Some decent weather I'm going to have today; that'll be good for my errands.

As I put it: "Everything is always changing"

We are all here for you Beets!

ON THE TOPIC OF MY ISP:
Things will be sorted out in a month or two, hopefully.
Broadband is only at MAX about 6 Mb/s...

Your Average News Headline: "Unbundling of Local Loop to occur, 2012"
or: "Telecom fined $220m, breached consumer rights for third time"

Keep on crunching,
Luke.

Hmmmn...that's not very fast, I agree. Maybe you should write your local MP demanding they allow some competition in?

But still, it will be better than it is now..hopefully. :]]

Thanks for your support, Luke!!!

GOD BLESS!!!

The company (Telecom) that holds the Local Loop monopoly, has relations with the government currently in Power... we'll see what happens.

Btw, Where do you get the Weather info from???

Good Morning, Luke!!!

In my experience governments are much less powerful than they pretend to be. They are actually concerned about whether their citizens are satisfied or dissatisfied. I've found that writing letters/emails of complaint will affect policy if enough people write in. So maybe you can search whether a group opposed to the Telecom dominance exists, or just email your cabinet minister?

I get my weather from a Canadian site called "Canoe" but it in turn gets its weather from "The Weather Network". They have 5 New Zealand cities weather available: Auckland, Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton.

If any of these cities are useful for you, go to this page and scroll down until you get to "New Zealand". :]]

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/intcitiesintl_en

I had a little trouble getting the actual weather page for one of these, but that could be because I'm set up for Canada through Canoe.

I hope it works easily for you. :]]

This just in....

Adobe has just made a big (and seemingly consumer friendly) move in multimedia by creating its own media player "Adobe Media Player 1.0" and "Adobe TV".

"Adobe believes it has an edge over rivals Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, and iTunes by not constraining users by platform or proprietary software."

As you know, the other existing media players are loaded with spyware, automatically connect you to their sites, and control what you can and can't download. If true, Adobe's player will bypass all of that. That would be a huge improvement in consumer freedon!!!

Adobe will also be offering free TV:

"Adobe TV is available from within Media Player 1.0 and offers consumers access to mainstream movies, television shows, and other content. Adobe has forged deals with CBS, MTV, PBS, Universal Music, and other companies to provide content for Adobe TV."

See the story site and go to Adobe's page and click on the "downloads" link at the top (second last one on the right) if you're interested. :]]

Many New Zealander's have taken a dislike to Telecom for one reason or another. Usually because of high prices and slow speeds....
I have e-mailed them to see what will happen....

Btw, Thanks for the weather site link!!!

Just though I'd mention this before I leave for today:
http://www.trademe.co.nz

You might of heard of it, or you might of not. This is virtually New Zealand's Ebay. About 30% of New Zealander's have an account (1,250,000 accounts).
I find it easier to use than eBay....

Regards,
Luke.

Yes but no. I'm about to go out to pick up some fresh sauerkraut at the City Market.

I always have time to share a drink with you, though. :]]

Palinka! I haven't drunk that in years. They call that "Eau de Vie" (water of life) around these parts.

Yo Egeszseged Neked! (sp) :]]

Hello Beets. I hope you are doing well today.

Hi Albert!!!

Awww, the heck with it! I can get my sauerkraut tomorrow. I don't want to leave here while my friends are around. :]]

I'm having a pleasant day today, except that I haven't gotten out today and I slept in far too long...I slept the whole afternoon away! <memo to self: Tsk! Tsk!> If being a loafer is acceptable, I've had a fine day today. :]]

So what I'll do is, I'll look around soon and see if there's anything good available to do a batch of the Daily Funnies. :]]

I'll make myself a quick supper of some kind too (I haven't decided what).

All in all: A-OK!

How's your day going?

All well with me.. Going around with one arm.. If i could take off any limb easily, i would have left the other arm somewhere,
until it was fixed. lol

Im waiting for spring.. but it seems like it will take some time yet.. its still
very low temperature.. For the moment only 2`C. To make lighten up the time, until it becomes a bit warmer, I have just planted
some few plants in the post on my balcony.. They are easy to move inside if bad weather, or freezing. ;-)
Have a nice evening, and take care! ;-)

Thanks Moon!

That's the kind of weather I'm having too, it's still cold around here. But at least spring and summer are coming, not winter.

I love that pic! Beautiful plants, Moon! :]]

I didn't hear how you injured your arm, but I sure do sympathize. People don't realize what a pain it is to do things with one arm, everything from getting dressed to tying your shoelace is a lot tougher.

Get well soon, Moon!!!
