A day or so ago, I right clicked the WU and selected 'show graphics' and the graphics windows does not open up. This is the same for SAH and CPDN, even though both have been working OK up to now, with graphics showing (I used it a lot for CPDN to find out how mant timesteps I had done etc). I've posted this on CPDN as well but got no useful advice. It would seem that the problem is more with BOINC tan either app since it is the same for both. I have tried reinstalling BOINC 4.05 but no difference. WIN XP Home SP1 |

Just to be sure. Are you trying to use the "Show Graphics" on a WU that is running? Using this on a "Ready to report" are "Preempted" will not work. Greetings from Belgium. Help Desk: use "Most recent answer first" sorting. |

Update all your drivers,,, video #1, I really like to say this, if you keep your drivers up to date and the BIOS also, you will have fewer problems...... My name is Pascal and this message has my approval... It is 10 oclock, do you know what your WUWUs are doing tonight... |

Could be something else in my system I know but I would not say specifically that. I have ordered the XP SP2 CD so maybe installing that willl sort this out or would you think that is dodgy without sorting out the problem first? |

I am having the same problem, check to see if the CPU timer is actually moving on the running data. If not, exit BOINC and restart. For some reason the data processing seems to hang from time to time and restarting the program fixes it for a time. Not having graphics is one of the signs this is occuring. Kubie |

I also monitored it with BoinclogX and the timesteps went up as well, so it appears to be running OK. |

I just throw things out and what you do with them is up to you, I have found that a box can be working prefect one second and the next it goes nuts... I use a couple of things to check the health of my boxes regularly, memtest is one and I go to pcpitstop for an overall look. Always checking on drivers and Bios, I defarg at least once a month sometimes more.......I use adaware, spybot and norton to keep the boxes clean, plus I have a hardware firewll and a software firewall. You indicated you install a third party porgarm thaT may have altered or corupted your registry. My name is Pascal and this message has my approval... I have finally resolved this and it looks like you were right Pascal. I reinstalled my video drivers (Mobility Radeon 9000) and lo and behold I can use the 'show graphics' button. A couple of other advantages are that I have the full control panel for the card after reinstallation (didn't before???)and my system seems a bit faster as well. Thanks you guys for your help and suggestions. Bloody PCs, I hate them;) |
