Yes, too late, but when do people in active earthquake and volcano areas start thinking maybe they shouldn't be living there?

Right after the ash starts falling.

The pyroclastic flow gets them every time...!

Well, I'm just glad that there are no significant earthquakes here in Germany.

Two years ago, we had an Earthquake 12km close to me. It was an 4.0 on the scale. It sounds like a big truck drives next to you, but nothing bad happens.

We have had 2 plus 4 earthquakes in the last week ! And we just had another one. I dont like these damn things. Is god mad at us ? Why would god want to destroy southern california ? Oh yeah, I get it now. Never mind

Yes, God hates you. I think this hatred from him has much to do with top heavy communes and medical marijuana establishments. It's time you repent and reconsider where you've chosen to live.

The feds busted californias marjuana "clinics". Apparently they are to shallow to believe that all those college guys had cancer. But you had a good point. We all need salvation here. Can you suggest a cool cult for me to join ?

Would you want many small 4.0 quakes or one that registers about 9.0? I would prefer the many small ones. I lived through two big ones and that is enough.!

I've lived through a few here in San Francisco.

I'll take many little ones over a few big ones!

I second that emotion. The last big one I was in was the '94 Northridge Quake. It made the San Fernando Valley 18 inches narrower and the mountains on either side 18 inches higher. This says nothing about all the damage that was done.

A 1.0 quake = 30 pounds of tnt. 2.0 = 1.1 tons. 3.0 = 32 tons. 4.0 = 1 kilo ton. 5.0 = 32 kilotons (Nagasaki). 6.0 = one mega ton. 7.0 = 50 mega ton. 8.0 = one gigaton (San Francisco quake 1906). I dont understand the math, but I dont like the word Giga in ANYTHING ! Well, except for happy hour

If you look at the Palmdale area just a bit to the south it runs right through that area. In fact the Palmdale reservoir sits right on top of it.
