Why does it take 24 hours to process a work unit when the program says it only takes. 7 hours. I have nothing else running. |

If you are watching the graphics try turning that off. My first work unit on the old SETI took several hours extra because I was using the screen saver. |

If your L2 cache size is less than 512Kb and > 0Kb, you can expect the WUs to take longer than advertised (by up to a factor of 6). If you are watching the wrong tab in the GUI, there is some exra load which can slow processing. The worst tabs are the disk usage and the Work Unit tabs. On slow machines it is possible for these tabs to take more time than crunching the WU. |
