The Cyclone, a 1959 show car

1959 Cyclone
The Cyclone, a 1959 show car with an aircraft-inspired design, explored futuristic technology. An early version of a crash avoidance system was the Cyclone's radar-sensing technology that provided the driver with information on an object ahead, including distance to the object and stopping distance. When a sensor in the console detected rain, it automatically put up the one-piece bubble top.

The Cadillac Evoq, shown at the 1999 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), was a concept designed to highlight the fact that technology can be physically attractive.

The 2 seat Evoq concept, like most contemporary Cadillac products is extremely angular in its exterior design, and its interior is filled with technological innovations, including a heads up display, night-vision, rear view radar and cameras, voice activated multimedia systems, navigation and e-mail.

Ultima GTR720 The Ultima GTR720 is a world record breaking supercar manufactured in the UK. Available either pre-built or as a self-build kit, the Ultima GTR is really the benchmark for home-build sports cars. The '720' in the title refers to horsepower. Prior to the GTR720's introduction Ultima's top spec model was the GTR640, also a world record breaker. Power comes from a mid-mounted 6.3 litre Chevrolet V8 driving the rear wheels through a 5 speed gearbox.

In July 2006, an Ultima GTR720 set four new speed records for a road car, breaking Ultima's own records. In road going form, with road tires, a GTR720 driven by Richard Marlow (Ultima's director) set the fastest 0-60 mph time (2.6 seconds), the fastest 0-100 mph time (5.3 seconds), the fastest 100 mph - 0 time (3.6 seconds), and the fastest 0-100 mph and back down to 0 again (9.4 seconds).

This puts the Ultima GTR720 ahead of legendary supercars like the Mclaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F for accelaration and breaking performance. And while the styling might not be world class, it's not that bad either.

It would be interesting how it stacks up against the Bugatti EB18/4 'Veyron'

The press release actually mentions the Veyron. That's the record they are trying to beat.

I could see the record being beat by next year maybe by the end of the year.

Did you happen to see the test drive of the Bugatti on the British Car show fifth gear?
