I have Seti set up so that the screensaver comes on after 10 minutes of inactivity. After another 10 minutes it goes to a blank screen. But then I get an onscreen message that says: "Secure Windows desktop detected. This configuration is currently not supported". What does this mean and what is wrong? Please help. Otherwise the program seems to be running fine. |

How do I go about undoing this? What do I do to take this password protection off so that BOINC will show graphics? Please help!! |

My company has strict rules that all machines must have a password protected screensaver so turning it off is not an option. |

I would imagine from your explanation of your problem and your statement that you have not set a password you are probably using Windows XP. To enable Boinc to show the graphics properly and then go to blank screen at the preset time is a simply adjustment. Right-click on your Desktop and open Properties then the Screen Saver Tab or open it from Display in Control Panel. Remove the Check from the box that says On Resume Display Welcome Screen. Boinc will now work properly. For some people this may not be a good idea because they have set up multiple User Accounts and by not showing the Welcome Screen on wake-up you will effectively be coming right back in to the last active User Account. If someone else has an account with different Desktop Preferences or Shortcuts they will need to click Start then LogOff and either log you off or click on Switch User to get to their Desktop. Hope this helps. |

Forcing that choice is bad, bad, bad. It is not only profoundly ill mannered, it is also bad software design to force the user to adapt to the software's preferences. In addition, it is a huge step backward from previous versions of SETI. I cannot run your apps until you fix this. |
