Message 457207 - Posted: 13 Nov 2006, 23:52:51 UTC

Has anybody seen this one before. I just installed some new Ram that is highly overclocked and was wondering if that may be causing it. This machine has been MemTested and Primed, and has reported 2 WU's without error. I've highlighted the message that I don't understand

Thanks.

I just got the same message for a different WU, so I suspect it's not our machines' fault.

11/13/2006 5:50:26 PM|SETI@home|Incomplete read of less than 5KB for 14jn03ab.20420.19216.78404.3.160 - truncating

Following that are multiple error 403's when trying to download that WU.

A 403 is a server msg saying that 'NO you cannot accesss there'. As there are two of you reporting same thing, it could be that Berkely are doing something with the servers, even if the server status page is not showing anything unusual.

Thanks for the replies. Ya, it just came to me to check my other machine and it's doing the same thing. I always hate seeing errors after doing hardware upgrades, thinking that it's on my part.

Thanks again.

Same here, I was trying to intall an optimized client for my new Macbook Pro w/ Core 2 Duo and I thought I messed something up. I looked at my errors and its a 403 incomplete read less than 5kb.

Well now that I think about it I probably messed up too. ; )

Evening All

It has been reported and we all need to be patient. It appears that the NFS has lost it connectivity again (thus the 403 error). So if you are in danger of running out of work, fire up a secondary project... I suspect nothing will happen until the AM in the Pacific Standard Time zone.

With regards to running out of work, is there a way to increase the number of WUs BOINC will keep on-hand, to make sure you don't run out of work? I can finish a WU in 1-2h on each core for the most part, so I go through quite a few a day.

I'm glad to read this thread -- had been away from my machines for an extended period of time, and thought I'd done fouled up the whole shee-bang. I'll wait patiently for the brain trust in Berkeley to fix the mess ...

And just as I was about to bring another cruncher online(Oh well), drat. Well I suspended network activity until morning, I should have enough to work on. Among other things.
