I just upgraded to BOINC 4.05. The BOINC icon appears in the system tray for a brief moment on boot, then disappears. If I launch BOINC from the START menu the same thing happens. Boinc 3.19 worked fine on this PC (even after SP2 upgrade). I have tried to install over exixting install as well as remove and reinstall the software - with no success. If I go back to 3.20 the icon shows in the system tray. Any suggestions? Teamless? Drop by ours and have a look http://www.setisynergy.com Also checkout http://www.setisynergy.com/stats |

Odd. My XP system has no problems. Have you verified that it's still running in the Task Manager? > I just upgraded to BOINC 4.05. Both players toss a nuclear warhead into the air and the one whose bomb explodes higher in the air wins. This game is usually played by people of low intelligence, hence the name High/Low. |

4.5 does not show in the task mananger. 3.2 does. When i go to programs and click on BOINC to start the 4.5 program, It flashs for a split second on the system tray and then is gone. Also when I start the screen saver it says BOINC is not running. Teamless? Drop by ours and have a look http://www.setisynergy.com Also checkout http://www.setisynergy.com/stats |

I have WinXP Home & WinXP pro, both with SP2 installed, and differing settings for firewall - no probs at all. However, I have noticed that at login the BOINC system tray icon appears briefly, disappears, then reappears again a few seconds later. Thereafter it is fine. This is true whether I did a clean install of 4.05 on a new machine, or installed over 3.20 on other computers. The XPSP2 firewall should alert you to the traffic if it isn't already configured for it - it seems unlikely that the firewall would be responsible for stopping the app without some warning. Silly question: Has Windows hidden it as inactive? |

I had this problem on one of my machines. It turned out the download got corrupted. Try downloading again, uninstall boinc, delete the remaining folder and reboot before installing the new download. <a> [/url] |

I have a mixure of XP computers with and with out this problem. If you installed over the top of 3.20 you get the problem, if it is a clean install no problem. It does not look to be as a result of SP2 |

It does not look to be as a result of SP2 Since back in beta, I have always installed right over the top of the old .exe. Never had a problem... |
