Hello all A couple of years back I was running SETI on many PCs because it was fun to watch the statistics. The old SETI had a "You have completed more work units than XX percent of all SETI users". Back then I was among the top 0.5 percent of all users, but then with the introduction of BOINC, I lost that particular competitive statistic element, and it just wasn't that fun anymore. I have just re-entered today, but still cannot find the element described above. Can anyone tell me if it exists? If not, then PLEASE Seti crew - can't you add this little number to the CREW statistics page. I think this could boost the number and motivation of users. Sincerely - the danish Nerd ;o) |

Hi, I haven't rejoined yet, I probably will because you asked so nice, but I share the sentiment about the competitive statistics and getting credit in general. I joined Boinc when it first came out, removing the old client. My old account could not be transfered properly and not getting credit anymore for the units already processed was a big bummer (and the major reason for me to refrain from installing the soft again when I upgraded my PC to a 64bit system). Also it has to be small, easy to install. I manage a computerpark of ±350 PC's and I can't install it if it requires user intervention all the time. It should be much more 'fire and forget'. So 'here here' to the Klingon request ! |

While I don't have 350 PCs, I do have quite a few across town and they require very little user intervention. Every version of BOINC that I've used has been 'fire and forget'. |

While I don't have 350 pc's on my account I do have about 20, and they are all "set it and forget it", to borrow Ron Popiels phrase. |
