Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? I ran mine air cooled for a little while and idle it would sit at 120-130, full processing it easiely got up to 170-180. I setup my system with one of those Zalman water colling units, and it didnt make any diffrence. I've seen the exact same water cooling unit drop 30-40 degrees of an old HyperThreading processor and hold it there even at 100%. Part of me thinks the sensor is just not readin correctly. But I was wondering if there anyone out there with insight on the subject. The temp does go up and down with the processor utilization so im fairly certain I have the correct sensor. |

Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? You might find some good information by checking www.overclock.net or www.xtremesystems.org and see what the hardcore oc'ers can tell you. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? Yep, Their a space heater, I'd take a conroe anytime. Of course the house might not stay as warm this winter, But the Batcave should be warm enough for the Dark Knight. ;) The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? Pentium D chips do run very hot, though using liquid cooling should have netted some lower temps. My guess is that something is not connected right (too much CPU grease can be counter-effective, for instance). If you want the best out of liquid cooling solutions, I'd take msattler's suggestion and follow those links. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help you out. |

180F (about 85C) is a bit on the high side, if you aren't overclocking. If your case doesn't have a vent that supplies fresh air to the CPU fan, you should probably get a better case. Regards Hans |

Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? Just checked a 3.0 P4-D running in a Dell server with server monitoring. It's running at 53C, but Dell have set it so it doesn't even trigger a warning until 120C - failure is defined as another 5C above that. I think you've got a bit of headroom yet. |

Anyone know about these 3.4 P4-D running hot? They are a bit conservative, I have a P4D 3.2 EE chip here and it is running at 73C right now, 163F. It is cruising right along with a Zalman cooler and the a/c vent right next to it. It is down from almost 80C a few months ago, due to being moved next to the a/c vent. The case just appears to not be very efficient at cooling, hole right above cpu fan, fan in the front and a fan in the back. Yes all the fans are blowing the right way. |
