Don't want this to seem like a redundant post. I think most of us are aware by now of the situation regarding no new work. One by one, my crunchers are running out of cached WUs and eagerly awaiting new work to do. I think the kitties are getting restless too.

Anyway.....I haven't seen any updates on the tech news page (not unusual over a weekend), and wondered if anybody had news from those directly involved as to how the upgrade/file transfer was coming along, if they hit any more snags, or if they are closer to knowing when everything may be sorted out and back online.

Please understand that I am not trying to thrash the subject, just a polite inquiry to see if somebody close to the situation has a new update. Thanx.

Remember, Berkeley is one of the last places to change time. It is before 7AM there. Let them sleep, get in, check out the situation then update us.

Oh, I understand that they are not quite awake yet, just thought perhaps there could have been some shop talk around the camp fire last night or such.

I want to say the the calculation of the work buffer done by seti is not correct.
I have set 3 days a lot of months ago but now I see that after 2 (max 2.5) days I have no work to do.
May be this is caused by the high st.dev among work units.

Bye,
Franz

You are lucky to have those days work....

I was told that a day would surfice now .... as there was not any major outages expected now most glitches have been ironed out.

How wrong we were ...

But in the interest of others ... I shall leavemy cache at 1 day ...so as not to deny others of units when the servers are again up.

Of course, you can always add another project... I have attached my faster machine to Einstein, as it ran out of work earlier today. The slower machine is still crunching SETI WUs. Mostly, this is due to it's old 280 Watt PSU blowing up. lol
Luckily, I had a nearly-new 400 Watt PSU laying around, but as I was out on a 4 wheel drive expedition, I lost about 12 hours crunching, or even that machine would have run out of work by now.

I understand that seti not supported in the conventional sense, but some major players are in the mix. 3 days??

Same problem (2.2 days of work buffer instead of 3)
on one host with empty stdoutgui.txt

Outage update: Though we moved a bulk of the data onto the new science database server over the weekend, there is still plenty to do before we can start using this new server. In the meantime, we may be able to start creating new work to send out later today
