I've just finished a unit, but it will not upload, and backs off. I allowed new tasks, and it was able to download a new unit with no trouble. The server status says all ok. Is there a blockage?

First, Don't Panic!

After an outage period or maitenance period the server will take a while to catch up to the sudden birage of clients it encounters. The more times you hit that update button the worst off the situation gets. In a few hours everything calms down, and considering the enlarged WU deadlines for SETI it won't matter whether they get reported right this instance or in a couple of hours, just let BOINC do the work and

No, the servers are shut down on Tuesday in order for maitenance to occur. Its a weekly deal. It takes a while for uploading to catch up.

Yes, Tuesdays at approx 10:00am Pacific time they shut down the servers. They have been doing Tuesdays now for a few months now, it seems to work better for their schedule at UCB. Be patient, it will go through.

Stefan, in another thread you said you'd been away for a while? Welcome back.

You're absolutely right, the servers are routinely shut down at about 17:00 UTC, and the standard warning about recovery is as you describe.

But in reality, since the switch to the Enhanced search, the recoveries have been much quicker and smoother than you may remember from the bad old days, and they often seem to pass with no trouble at all.

Until today.

The outage started as normal, and according to the traffic graphs lasted about an hour and a half - less than you may have expected, but "normal for enhanced".

Since then, three of my rigs have downloaded OK, but nothing has uploaded - it's all getting repeated 403 errors. I think this one's a genuine SNAFU.

Still, all we can do is wait, and hope that Berkeley will notice before they go home for the day. To reassure everyone else: I think it's a central problem, nothing to do with your personal computer, so don't panic. Leave the panicing to the professionals!

Edit - who's been messing around with the quotation style while I've been typing? Not another beta test of the board software, please!

Agreed, This is an abnormal post-outage condition.
Uploads fail instantly without any percentage transferred.

Thanks for the welcome back! So this is abnormal you say, interesting, could it be something with the new sun server? Someone was wondering about that in another thread...

I know I uploaded the one WU I had completed at 2:40 or so...

All this really means is that you'll get a burst of credits once the upload server is fixed and everyone uploads and reports in.

... and everyone seems to like a bigger RAC, even if it's temporary.

If there's one thing I love, it's definately a bigger RAC! But I don't like fake inflated RACs. Only the real thing, bebe.

Glad I'm obviously not the only one with problems here.

It's both SETI and SETI Beta that's not working for me. But at least I can download and process.

Hope the things are all gone by tomorrow morning.

Be happy you can download. I can't do either now for some reason. Got a WU for beta wanting to go up, and one to come down. Oh well, got other projects to attend to. :-)

I'm glad that some US members are around with regards to this problem. My upload got to 3.43% progress before it stopped - uploadius interruptus, so to speak. Hopefully it'll upload the rest with no problems once all is back to normal.

Am doing. Next piece will take another 13+ hours to complete anyway, so am not worried about a backlog.

Nice to see someone else with a torty cat on here. :D

I really hope that we can all upload within 9 days... (or at least me, LOL, j/k)

In any event, let's look at the positive side. We can still download and do work. All uploads will just work eventually.

Maybe if we donate more: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/donate.php whatever downtimes will be minimized. (just a positive outlook)

Cute cats btw. I love cats!
