Make sure you allow BOINC through your firewall software. If you are using a proxy, use the older version of BOINC 5.2.13 for now, as 5.4.9 has problems with proxies. |

I also have the same issue. If you look at the Server Status page there is a lot of red. Seems there is a problem at Berkeley. |

Lots of error 403 messages. Started 12 hours ago after a half hour of: 8/1/2006 11:28:38 AM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of -106 Guess it will sort itself out. Dave |

What is happening?? - can't upload anything. Excluding Boinc from firewall doesn't help. Is it the upgraded version? I upgraded a few days ago but didn't check until now to see if it was working properly. 8/2/2006 3:45:48 AM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 8/2/2006 3:45:48 AM|SETI@home|Reason: To fetch work 8/2/2006 3:45:48 AM|SETI@home|Requesting 34560 seconds of new work 8/2/2006 3:45:53 AM|SETI@home|Scheduler request succeeded 8/2/2006 3:45:55 AM|SETI@home|Started download of file 06my05ab.13590.30226.736064.3.208 8/2/2006 3:45:58 AM|SETI@home|Finished download of file 06my05ab.13590.30226.736064.3.208 8/2/2006 3:45:58 AM|SETI@home|Throughput 154471 bytes/sec 8/2/2006 3:45:59 AM||Rescheduling CPU: files downloaded 8/2/2006 3:45:59 AM|SETI@home|Starting task 06my05ab.13590.30226.736064.3.208_3 using setiathome_enhanced version 515 8/2/2006 3:47:32 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:33 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:47:33 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 39 minutes and 48 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:36 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:37 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:47:37 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 42 minutes and 6 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:39 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:40 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:47:40 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 2 hours, 3 minutes and 46 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:42 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:43 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:47:43 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 3 hours, 28 minutes and 53 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:45 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:46 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:47:46 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 3 hours, 17 minutes and 9 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:47:51 AM||Suspending computation - user is active 8/2/2006 3:47:51 AM|SETI@home|Pausing task 06my05ab.13590.30176.40912.3.152_3 (removed from memory) 8/2/2006 3:47:51 AM|SETI@home|Pausing task 06my05ab.13590.30226.736064.3.208_3 (removed from memory) 8/2/2006 3:48:00 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:48:01 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:48:01 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 2 hours, 14 minutes and 24 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:51:13 AM|SETI@home|Started upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:51:14 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0: Error 403 8/2/2006 3:51:14 AM|SETI@home|Backing off 32 minutes and 27 seconds on upload of file 06my05ab.13590.30128.378392.3.128_3_0 8/2/2006 3:56:13 AM||Suspending network activity - user is active |

I have the same problem with error 403. Wait. If there's still a problem in a couple of days, then you might want to consider panicing. But at the moment, it's not of any real concern. Grant Darwin NT |

I have also been unable to upload my results for my first thing (not sure what it is) that reached 100%. I get an HTTP 403 error, which implies that I am not allowed to upload to that server. My account seems to work, and and there don't seem be any registration steps that I missed. Is it possible that my computer isn't fast enough for this, so it does it wrong? That thing took about an hour and a half to do, whatever it was. I have an Athlon XP 3200+. |

me, too. the problem has lasted for about 14-15 hours, and seems to be go on. I've tested the download, it's ok. Only upload failed with an error 403. anyone knows the port it uses for upload? |

Error 403 happens more frequently than any other error in SETI@home, and is caused by a problem at Berkeley. Don't panic, the crew there are probably still in bed at this time, but will attend to the glitch when they get in. It typically only takes a couple of hours for the fix, including uploading the backlog of finished WUs. |

About the upload port that BOINC uses: I'm not positive, but since it was an HTTP error, I'm guessing TCP Port 80. I have no firewall enabled, and I've used things like Bittorrent and MUSH clients on this machine before, so I don't think that's the problem. To me, it looks like whatever server takes the results is not working. If anyone has been able to upload results recently, please post here saying so. |

I'm afraid we just need to be patient. If you have run out of WUs to crunch, increasing the "Connect to network about every" option to 4 days. This will give you enough WUs to tide you over a pretty long outage! |

The problem was at Berkeley and has been solved. Per the Tech news page... "August 2, 2006 - 17:30 UTC We had to bring down the project briefly to reboot the upload server. Once in a while it loses random NFS mounts, this time resulting in the inability for the assimilator to insert into the science database, and for results to be uploaded in general." |

The time it takes to receive your credit varies. Each WU crunched is actually sent out to four computers. Once at least three computers finish and upload the WU, the system cross-references the results and then marks them to be assimilated into the main database. After the system analyzes it, then you will receive your credit. Since some computers are slower than others, it can take up to two weeks before you receive credit for a WU. It says on the status page that the upload/Download server is up Software diagnostics isn't always correct! Computers often LOOK like they're ok, but operate slowly, and need to be rebooted. If you're running any form of Windows, you will have no doubt noticed this. :) |
