Cool!
Are you registered at lunatics.at yet? If so, tell me your username, and I'll give you full access to the development area - it's a bit easier to keep track of development all in one place :o)
Regards,
Simon.

Hi Michael,
you're added and should now see some extra boards and download categories.
I'll put together a tarball with the current sources for you and post about it in the Pre-Release Linux board.
Thanks for participating!
Regards,
Simon.

Happy holidays,
Simon.
To be honest, I have barely looked at it so far...holidays has me strapped down with relatives visiting and parties. And I got a house full again this weekend.

Hi,
I 've been using boincmgr in order to compute SETI@HOME workunits on an AMD-64. However, boincmgr seems to be optimized for Intel processors (since I use same manager on an Intel processor on another pc, and the RAC there is higher than on AMD64 - which should not be the case). KWSN, I read your link on optimization, however, these are instructions for Intel-based processors. Is anyone aware of womething similar for AMD64 processors?
Wouldn't a simple parameter like -march=k8 at compilation produce correct results?
Thank you in advance for any help,
- dimis -

Hi Dimis,
First, please note that BOINCMGR does not actually do any computing. It's simply a front end to control all the projects you compute for. BOINC will download a science application that actually does the data crunching, but that's it.
Second, all of Simon's (Chicken's) optimizations have a "generic" version, which can be used on AMD chips. I'm using a generic SSE3 on an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ right now. Just be careful you don't download the "Intel" specific optimizations, which have Intel in the description name of the app.

Does anyone have instructions on how to compile seti_boinc for PowerPC Linux (say, YDL) with altivec support? I seem to run into trouble because the altivec source appears to expect Mac OS X.
Thanks very much.
