Personal background
I am from Hellas (Greece) and I am a Computer Scientist. I finished my undergraduate studies at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and I had my MSc. in Logic, Algorithms and Computation again at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens but this time from the Mathematics Department. Currently I am a graduate student at the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Back when I was a high school student I was really fascinated by a book: SETI: The search for extra-terrestrial intelligence, by Thomas R. McDonough (First Edition in 1987 by Wiley & Sons, which was translated in greek by katoptro publications). I believe this was the beginning in making me a fan of SETI. By the summer of 1999, I heard about SETI@Home, and I realized this was an opportunity for me to contribute to this project. Ever since then, I run SETI@Home periodically, actually more intensively since spring 2004, since I have a better pc and the fragments of my share of computation roll on a rather fast pace. I wish mankind could discover some form of alien life before I die. I am very interested in seeing the impact of this discovery. Anyway, I think that chances are low for this aeon; however, I 'll do my best to speed up the process of the search. My best wishes to all of those that participate in this project.
