Message 331605 - Posted: 9 Jun 2006, 0:41:16 UTC

Since nearly all of my latest posts and threads got moderated without any notice or explanation to me why they were smashed (One Exception: Ageless once explained why and i took it) and i can do nothing about it, i take it as granted, i found the weak spot ;)

I was only questioning the double standards used here and always got no valid answer but only troll responses and insults from the "preferred league".

I only want to be treated equal, which is very difficult, because always thread intruders from the "preferred league" manage to spread insults and troll posts to distract from my real question. I know the question is uncomfortable and i don't want to assume, a certain part of the moderators is preferring a certain part of the community, but as facts are my question is still unanswered.
Aloha, Uli

I know of a message board where the owner states:

"This place exists for the entertainment of me and my friends. Nothing else really matters. If you are not me or one of my real life friends, you don't matter much at all, so don't think that you do"

Surprisingly, this same board is good for some interesting reading :o)

Regards Hans

P.S: No, i don't think the same applies here.

I have no doubt that some posts get deleted or moved to some section we can't see but I don't think calling them out is helping either. E-mail them, boincmods@ssl.berkeley.edu and ask WTF!

I find a lot of threads recently that should be trashed. I've also been known to cause trouble in other forums but at some point you just gotta know when the shut the heck up. I'm not saying you should but they let us post here, they don't have to let us.

Uli, I know you are upset and can understand your feelings, I really do.
The Last Thread I had to delete, I sent a message to you as to why. I will restate
it here. There was way too many flames in the thread and it was worsening. Sometimes the best thing to do is just delete the thread completely. It has nothing to do whether I like you or I dont. I do not get paid for this position and I will not spend every waking hour Modding this forum.

On to your inference that I give particular as you say "preferred league" members perferental treatment. that my friend is totally not true I mod everyone equally. What you dont see is the amount of posts that I do delete and as I have said before I Mod my teamates more than anyone else except for 1 or 2 here.

If this thread turns into a flame fest I will deleat it.

That's ok for me.
But i never got an email from your moderation although i got one from Ageless' moderation. I thought the board system generates an automatic email, at least this line made me think so:

It generally does send them, Being a New moderator at first I was a little overwelmed with the job and On the job training was the rule. There is no guides Or "Moderators for Dummies" Books.

I didn't relize at first that I actully had to put something in that little box or it wont send a message. Now you tell me you didn't get it and I specifically put a reason to make sure you got it. Check you spam filter because Wanky just found his there.

anyway Uli I encourage you to be active in the cafe create threads participate in the discussions you are welcome here. Just try and follow the guidlines...
Have Fun!

That's the same message I get when my posts are "moderated".

Which leads to a good point that CA made: you see your own posts and threads get hidden, but by definition you don't see the posts/threads by others that are hidden. For that reason, it is hard for anyone to know that they are moderated more than others. One would have to be on line all the time and open every thread before the moderators got to it to have a very good idea about the moderation done to other people.

It takes the courtesy of the moderator as well to give you a message when deleting a post. Yet there are times when there's so much spam going into a thread that even I don't use that courtesy. See me with 20 tabs open in Mozilla, trying to keep in close proximity of the spamming. If I then have to write an explanation on all of them the spammer is 20 messages ahead of me.

Although it must be fun to see his email box fill in with 40 email messages. ;)

Unless that person, or those persons post the whole thing, including the text in the email, back on the forums 3 minutes after it's been deleted. ;)

Highlight, CTRL C, click in the box, CTRL V. :-) Makes it easier than typing the same thing over and over. Hehehe.

Just had to give ya a bad time Ageless. Good to see ya!
