But there is a need for the opti. enhanced application... No, there is a desire for an optimised Enhanced application. Not a need. Grant Darwin NT |

to use Crunch3rs optimized Enhanced application, make sure you have first downloaded the official files, then unzip Crunch3rs files and edit the app_info.xml in my last post and replace every setiathome_5.12_windows_intelx86.exe with setiathome_5.11_windows_intelx86.exe that seems to work for me, at least, untill Berkeley releases a new Enhanced application.... |

snip I have seen this app_info before on the forums. I am no expert but shouldn't the version number for the original optimized client be 411 not 418? I believe the app_info file is saying when the WU wants setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe then instead use setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe. I think the version number should be 411 to show we are using an optimized client rather than the default 418. I am not an expert so may be wrong but would appreciate comments. |

Hello! Please find here linux version. My slowest 400 MHz PC was running with no optimized client, so I got all new files. app_info.xml and these files are now distributed to other linux boxes, and it works. (after boinc was restarted, of course). Note: there should be NO blank lines in xml file! 73 Iztok <app_info> <app> <name>setiathome</name> </app> <file_info> <name>setiathome_SSE2-naparst-r3.4</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome</app_name> <version_num>407</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome_SSE2-naparst-r3.4</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app> <name>setiathome</name> </app> <file_info> <name>setiathome_4.02_i686-pc-linux-gnu</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome</app_name> <version_num>402</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome_SSE2-naparst-r3.4</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu.so</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>512</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome-5.12.i686-pc-linux-gnu.so</file_name> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> |

I tried it and it works fine, no errors. I used the new app_info like Mr. Pernod. It works fine, SETI Optimized and SETI Enhanced together, great Thanks to crunch3r D5400XS V8-Xeon |

I tried the following without success. crunch3r optimized BOINC crunch3r optimized SETI crunch3r optimized SETI enhanced using app_info.xml as per UBT - PaulT's post SETI bombed out with several error messages 'could not find file' Is this correct: <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>512</version_num> <file_ref> <file_name>setiathome_5.11_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> should it be: <version_num>511</version_num> I'm clutching at straws here, I know nothing of xml Any help appreciated. |

Or, you can allow Boinc to download at least one new enhanced WU along with the regular application files before you install the app_info.xml file with the Crunch3r files. The AUTHORS, COPYING, COPYRIGHT and README files do not need to be present for Seti to run properly - they will not be downloaded when using the app_info file. They are included in the xml file for completeness. |

For those of you looking for the proper way to run optimized a53 and Seti Enhanced on the Mac. Here's the app_info.xml I'm using to support both a53 and Seti Enhanced (official-non Optimized):
Unlike in Windows and in Linux, I actually got executable errors when I just deleted the app_info.xml on the Mac (after shutting down and then restarting BOINC after file removal/backup of course). So in this case I let it grab the new Seti Enhanced worker and units, crunch a bit, then shut down Boinc again to add the above app_info.xml with the new Seti Enhanced entries. So far so good. Make sure you edit the a53 entries above to match the version you're running (a52 or a53... G4 or G5). ![]() |

Thanks seti_britta Tis all working now, your app_info listing solved the problems. |

Actually, I think the current Crunch3r Windows app does not need or use the libfftw3f-3-1-1a.dll file so the dll does not need to be present in the Seti folder to run the Crunch3r optimized seti-enhanced app. The dll may be needed for future optimized apps so I have left it in the app_info.xml file. |

No app_info.xml file is needed on my SETI, both seti enhanced 5.12 & optimised seti 4.11 running well without problem... :) |
