for the last 2 weeks or so ive been getting:

etc when connecting to SETI through my proxy connection. if i connect direct then i get no problems at all. unfortunatley, the PC's in question are behind firewalls / proxies that cant be bypassed so connecting direct on those pc's isnt an option.

i had a look at the raw packets going from my pc to the net and can see the packets were:

not sure why the failures have started in the last week or so. either the proxies are not processing the "Expect: 100-continue" correctly or SETI isnt responding to the request correctly.


has anyone else seem this behaviour. is there any way to supress the Expect: 100-continue from the BOINC client (maybe forcing it to use HTTP 1.0?)

Not specifically the 417 error, but the "Expect: 100-continue" problem is discussed in this thread. I didn't see a resolution there, as the message comes from your proxy server and isn't expected by BOINC which apparently doesn't have an appropriate response programmed. I'd suggest reading there, and continuing in that thread where some experts have posted.
