If it is your 2100+ computer I see it has returned an error. The error says a file is missing. I'm not for sure what to do but you may consider removing BOINC and re-installing it. That may be a real nightmare right now with SETI being sort of semi working.

Maybe the trouble we are having today is effecting your install. Maybe SETI is holding out downloading the files it needs to get going.

Right now mine doesn't upload any work.

Maybe while you are waiting for SETI to get back up you could try the memtest others mentioned. Here is a link to http://www.memtest86.com/. It's a little confusing running it your first time. You need to download the program and then make a floppy or a CD. Then you stick it in and reboot your machine. If everything works after semi short wait Memtest86 will start and do it's thing. You need to let it run at least long enough to get through all of the test once.

You may be on to something with thinking it could be a Macafee thing. With Norton firewall it needed permission for the boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe. If I remember right.

Maybe someone that has Macafee may know how to make sure it is set correctly.

That shouldnot cause the whole system to lock up.

i ask again: Are you using an optimized application?
