You had two questions Yes, people are testing Crunch3r's Optimized Enhanced App It has not been said that the "credits will be reset." If we look they are now published to the BOINCStats sites it is less likely... The answer for that one is no one knows, but you will be part of history... i joint the beta too , is there a optimized apps for sse only cpu's ?! :) Al Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Michael Thank You... Other than clearing a bunch of Einsteins that were getting close to deadlines... I have 6 machines that are running Enhanced Beta... Over the last few weeks noticed that my Recent Average Credit (RAC) has suffered... I think the important part in my circumstance is that I want "Seti Enhanced" to be the best it can be before it gets here... If nothing else go read the Forums in Beta... WE have no timeline for the move... From monitoring the Developers list I know that changes are happening to the Core Client. I know that Eric is working to insure that some workunits (5.02 Application) with off Angle Ranges (AR) do not just abort... Thus the upgrade to 5.05 Application. I signed up and got one of my machines crunching now for Beta :) by the way, that means my RAC will drop here. Al Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Michael it's all good...eventually we will all be on Enhanced sooner or later anyway....might as well do my part to speed that along. Edit: yes, I see that I am crunching with 5.05 |

Sorry if this is OT here, but I'm having trouble attaching to Beta. I tried posting a message on the Q&A forum over there, but the place seems deserted ... When I try to attach my host (Mac G4/733, OS 10.3.9, BOINC Menubar 5.2.13) I get a message that my account key is unknown or invalid--yet I used the very same key to log in to my Beta account in order to post the question, and it certainly seems to work for the website. I don't think I mis-copied it either, because it was in my Clipboard and I pasted it from there into the Add Project dialog, then again into the website's log-in page after failing to attach. Any thoughts? |

Well, after posting the above question I thought I'd try again--"third time's the charm" and all that--and now it seems to work! Sorry to trouble you; as you were ... |

Try attaching using email and pw instead? AFAICT, no can do: the Add Project dialog in BOINC Menubar only has project-URL and account-key fields. Anyway, after attaching it took a few attempts to download the app--aftermath of the maintenance outage, I guess--but I appear to be crunching my first Beta WU now: 2% done in only forty minutes! At that rate, assuming (probably wrongly) that the current progress is representative, I'm looking at 'only' about 33 hours of processing on this one, which means it'll probably be finished by the end of the week. Just like old times on my Power Mac 7100/66, which took about five days per Classic WU. :) |

Odysseus Sorry I have been running... If you post the question in Number Crunching you will likely get some kind of response... I have not visited Q&A for a very long time... So If you post the info that is here about the issues getting connected then they have an idea what might be happening... Sorry if this is OT here, but I'm having trouble attaching to Beta. I tried posting a message on the Q&A forum over there, but the place seems deserted ... R/ Al Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Did you not read my earlier posting? In case it's hard to find in this long thread, I'm running BOINC Menubar v5.2.13. If there's a way to enter an email and password there, I'd be interested to know what it is ... although it's mainly an academic question at this point because I don't expect to be attaching to any more projects for a while. |

Yes I read it... I do know that there were issues discussed in the Developer list about the problem... I do not recall is the Mac 5.2.13 has the fix... What I am seeing is that Users should have a updated Core Client to install... However there is little word about when or how... So that was why I reqeusted a short story in the Enhanced Number Crunching Forum... At least it gets a bit of visibilty...

Pappy, JFTR I was replying to Michael B. in the following:
Sorry if the attributions were unclear; I'm used to threaded discussions & snipping sigs in Usenet.
I'll make note of that; the help forum there sure seems pretty dead! I don't know if it should be considered a bug report, though. Right after I posted my first Q, the web facilities went offline for today's maintenance outage; is it possible that the server with the account IDs was already in the process of shutting down while I was trying to attach--only a few minutes before--and so couldn't verify my existence? (I have only the vaguest idea of the data-paths in the SETI/BOINC servers, let alone the maintenance procedures.) |
