Anyone else been having problems with duplicate hosts being created on their account for no apparent reason lately ? In the last 3 days or so I have had a bunch of duplicate hosts created for no apparent reason. Nothing has changed on my side, I haven't even rebooted this computer or shut down/restarted BOINC in several weeks. Occasionally I check my list of host computers and find that SETI has created a new duplicate host - I merge them and all is fine. Check again later and there's another one or, in the last instance, 3 more created. |

It's now about 5 weeks ago since "migrating" from seti1 to seti2. this with the hosts, happened to me several times. One time, I got 8 or 9 entries for the exactly same host, created in the intervall off 1 minute. I merged. as you, I do nothing on my side to force this. Now in the host_user, the total entries of hosts, are nearly three times (3x) as high as in reality, and probaly still growing (a kind of new credits?) I stopped to merge an remerge .. hide hosts and lost attention. For the total credits, it will have no influence. It's bad, when you whant to know detailled infos concerning one host. Maybe wrong, thinking the source of this is are in the consistency of the used DB('s). On a other threat¹, somebody mentioned how host could merged by changing on the xml level, interesting idea, but every "tweak" on xml level changes the file signature and therefore guessing, credits will not be spoken ( don't beet, I' guessing maybe wrong) Seti2 takes much more time (for the user) as I was expecting, the "task", merging hosts, can be an other time thief, and sorry for my words, I don't like to do tomuch "monkey business". frienly ric ¹http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=2653 |
