Many of us are waiting for this to return - it's hard to judge what work has been completed when you cannot see the pending, plus you cannot be convinced that work has been sent in. I too would like to see that restored since it cannot be a hard drain on the server for this could it? The main drain is there not being enough work available isn't it?

Since the schedulers, etc... also need to connect to the database, I suspect thousands of users accessing their pending info could indeed drag other systems down as well. Just a guess though...

I sympathise with this, I just wonder why they weren't prepared for all this? It's not like the entire SETI@Home Classic community has come over to BOINC yet? I'm not slagging them off - just wondering why like many others I guess? They are valid questions. I just feel the project was nowhere near ready to go live that's all and I fear they have probably lost a lot of crunchers as a result of the 'teething' problems that have been experienced and that would be a real shame. I for one am here to stay :D I'm interested in all of it - the science, the project, etc., not like some for glory, but I admit it makes it a little more interesting!

The pending credit is just a way to see what your machines have done and it's pretty hard to understand why this couldn't be on a different database? It's pending credit - couldn't that be tied to the original database in some way and once it's 'granted' then divert to the main database - might save the main server being thrashed with requests ;) Just a suggestion ;) (in the wrong section I guess --- hehe!)

I also feel the release was a bit hasty. I don't think any of the beta team would say different. There was all of two weeks time the beta group had access to the "live" site before it was publicly announced. (not to mention the public release wasn't mentioned to beta until after it happened) We had some server outages in beta, but nothing on this scale.
