Hi, I subscribed to Boinc just one year ago, and I'm stil using the same computer. Yet, this is my 3th hostnumber. How is this possible? Regards, |

Hi, There is only one computer showing in your computers list. A new ID can be issued if you uninstall BOINC and re-install, upgrade the os, change the system name, upgrade the processor and a few other changes. As you only have one computer registered to 'fic' I assume you have already merged the hosts? |

Yes, I uninstalled 4.19 to install 5.22... But I'm stil running Boinc on the same computer and I'm stil using the same account-number/password (never changed it), so I shouldn't have gotten a new hostnumber. And you're right. I do have only one computer, and yes, I merged the computer. But why do I get a new hostnumber? I never stopped running Boinc... So how can that new host be created on 12 Oct 2005 6:53:49 UTC Regards, fic. |

Yes, I uninstalled 4.19 to install 5.22... I think it is just one of those things that happens, and Berkeley don't really have a fix which is why they provide the Merge Hosts function (which won't let you merge genuinely different systems). IIRC, some of the BOINC versions improved the CPU identification routines - a change of CPU description would trigger a new ID. |

Yes, I uninstalled 4.19 to install 5.22... This can happen when a host tries to access Berkeley and a problem occurs on Berkeley's end. Many many many people have duplicate hosts and they are just sitting there doing nothing. |
