Howdy Folks,

I need to confirm that the download issue where the client stalls out after a successful RPC request is fixed in 5.2.2.

I've read several different threads stating that this was a problem in 5.2.1, but it hasn't been very clear whether this is still an issue with 5.2.2.

For those who are still experiencing this issue, are you on dial-up? Which projects does this occur on? How often does this happen?

Rom, I only had the problem when attaching (and to Rosetta); I tried attaching to PrimeGrid today with all 3 of my dual machines and 5.2.2, and I had no problems. I'm suspecting that you are addressing a more general download issue, though, which I'm not having. (BTW, using DSL)

Right, I just uninstalled 4.19 to give 5.2.2 a try...

I installed 4.19 in English, 5.2.2 takes my regional settings (Dutch). Can live with that installation, but I can't change the language (see options). There's only an x-box (upper-right), so whenever I try to change the language there's no change.
Got an Intel P4 2,4 Ghz (HT), 1 Gb Ram, 512 L2
Benchmarks dropped from 1500 (whetstone) and 3700 (drystone) (ht off) to 1000 (whetstone) and 900 (drystone) (ht on).
Can't say it's a real improvement...

Regards,

fic.

Fixed? Not at all. See the thread in "Deferred,Deferred,Deferred...".
I have cable and it does it on Einstein and Seti.
Plus I get more problems that I could account for 4.72.

It has occured about 105 times between 1:21PM and 6:25PM on Oct 19th 2005.

Hi fic,

the way to change the language is to change it in the selection list, confirm this and then to restart (exit and start) the BOINC Manger.

I don't fully understand your description of the problem. Do you say there is no confirm or OK button in the dialog box? Or do you talk about the close windows button of the BOINC Manager window, that only will minimize the Manager but not exit it?

Greetings from Bremen/Germany

This is all I get when I try to change the language...

Hi,

OK, I'm a bit confuserated. The other day I installed BOINC 4.45 on my Desktop because 5.2.1 was NOT on the list to download for Windows. Just 4.45 and 4.19. Now you folks are talking about 5.2.2. Could someone bring me up to date on what is the newest one to run for Windows?

Up until yesterday the development version was only available through a different link than the normal download page. This version changed numbers a few times in the 5.x.x, and finished with a development version of 5.2.2. Then late yesterday (Berkeley time) the released version of 5.2.2 was put on the normal download page and is ready to be used by the rest of us.

I must agree, on my 5.2.1 I can see no OK or other button in the Options/General tab. But when traversing the dialog with Tab key, i see there must be two buttons (or other controls, but probably something like OK and Cancel) hidden somewhere.

The same with connections and Proxies tabs - two hidden buttons somewhere underneath. Only in the Connections dialog there seems to be some checkbox with text just under the "Default Connection:" string, but I can see only top corners of the checkbox and top three pixels of the text :-(

This is as designed. To not increase the load on scheduling-server unneccesarily, reporting of results will happen:

1; When asks for more work.
2; When manually initiated by user.
3; When a finished result has less than 1 day to report-deadline.
4; If N days since result finished, there N is the same as cache-setting.
5; Atleast for CPDN, when reporting trickles.

Might seem to be a step backwards but it is the smart thing to do.

No download issues here with 5.2.2

@Fic (in dutch)

Hoi Fic,
Ik zie dat je de nederlandse taal hebt ingesteld.
Vandaar even nu op deze manier.
Is het al voor elkaar met de taalinstelling?
Normaal wordt deze direct overgenomen door de manager, maar heb je nu het engels of nederlands..??

I'm setting up a Dutch NT 4.0 box now...

I cannot repro your problem on an english version of Windows configured for dutch.

It appears that if you get a three day cache by setting the cache to ten days that it will never report on its own. All the real work of transferring is already being done when the work units finishes and sends the results. The only thing the "ready to report" does is to acknowledge the work that you have done.

I don't see how the above list from 1 to 5 will work.

1. It's not going to ask for more work if they all are finished, returned and it is setting with the "ready to report" message.

2. Manually isn't why I bought a computer.

3. So if the work units that you have finished in three days will set for 11 more days.

4. If the work units are finished they will set for 7 days.

5. Trickles? SETI doesn't need no stinking trickles.

I really don't get it.
