http://graphics.stanford.edu/papers/clawhmmer/hmmer.pdf Stanford is developing software (as we know) to offload FLOP calculations to the video card. Previous iterations of the software, have had poor results, because you couldn't directly use previous outputs as inputs for future iterations without a copy. With the new generation of ATI cards, this is now a possibility. I expect to see BOINC on ATI soon. (may repost this on the predictor forum, as the stanford team is already working on protein sequencing on ATI cards.) |

So I wonder the effects of running Boinc and Doom3 at the same time. |

So I wonder the effects of running Boinc and Doom3 at the same time. Considering that the cards do almost 19.6 times the amount of work that the CPU does.. You could run it only when the computer is not in use, and you would still get better return. |
