I THINK THAT WINDOWS CLIEND HAS VERY LOW SECURITY :( I use Boinc ver 4.45 in my work and when I leave my place other people can use this manager and easy change or delete my acount!!! :( Site don't have any protection - why? When I use BOINC manager and login in my acount I can change my e-mail and password - why you don't stay old password as security? I see only two option when i want change my password : New password and New password, again :( I think that you must add old password option! Or you should add password in BOINC manager as security. Am I right? This situation is very dangerous for all of us. I'm new user this manager and BOINC project but I use seti clasic client since 1999. I know that stealing data was a very big problem in that program too. Thanx for ansver :) BTW. Sorry for my english but i'm still lerning :) SORRY - I MISS SOMETHING ... WE MUST LOGIN IN START and if I log out other peaple can't change my acount. Good :) |

There is a password mechanism for the BOINC manager. http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?title=BOINC_Daemon_Password It is not ideal but does make things a bit less open. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

You can only change your password here on the site if you are actually logged in. So when you log out when done on the site and you didn't tell Internet Explorer or your other browser to remember the login&password, no one can change your password. They won't be able to delete your account anyway. No one can delete his or her account. You can make 45 new accounts, yes, if you have 45 other email addresses, but deleting one is impossible without Seti administrator help. So, if you leave your work place, go to your account, scroll to the bottom and Log Out... the last link is a direct link. You can even make a shortcut of that on your desktop, if you want to. (Ah, I noticed you found that already. ;)) |
