Finally I got boinc to connect to the server - but: "Message from server: Server can't open log file".

Is the problem on my end or the server end (guessing server end, but still don't know alot about boinc)

There is nothing wrong at your side but unfortunately nothing you can do also.
For the moment, there are server problems in Berkeley. That is why you have the failure.

Unfortunately you can not connect to the server that is needed to get rid of the problem and therefore you will need to wait until people in Berkeley resolve the server problem.

Greetings from Belgium.
