It goes through this when not connected to Seti, was there a problem connecting? Your ISP being busy or the schedulars were busy. I would go to boinc wiki to find a full version of why. ID: 168930 ·

No indication that our cable connection dropped during this period.. Other ISP related activities appear to have been/are functioning. Closed/Restarted BOINC Manager and is running again. Buck Volunteer tester Send message Joined: 19 Jul 00 Posts: 3898 Credit: 1,158,042 RAC: 0	Message 169157 - Posted: 18 Sep 2005, 6:47:14 UTC I have seen similar problems with both Windows XP Pro and OS-X ... it seems that BOINC can crash the TCP stack and then it "forgets" how to connect. More interesting is the fact that other network activities may continue to work. The real issue for me seems to be that I cannot easily say how this will fall out. My experience is that I usually cannot even get the connect to the scheduler and I get some other error. So, it "hides" the problem. I know that there has been some work in the later builds to address this a little better and I have seen some messages that give a better clue now, but, have not gotten them into the Wiki yet. Not that even that would help here as the "clue" message is not in the log sample. The only clue is that a reboot cured it. I have also been able to clear it IN SOME CASES with a restart of BOINC only. Now, to save a step, I just reboot if I have connect misses. ID: 169157 ·

Determined the RCA cable modem has problem with power connector and it was intermittently causing modem to recycle. Replaced with Motorola Surfboard and have problem has not repeated. Hardware!
