one little Question

why is Boinc, you have Prefs for Home, School and Work, not be able to change this for every location

Connect to network about every xxx

home 1 Day

Work 3 Days

and...

many people have not only one Host, and not all Computer is running 24/7

and then change also the Profiles for the different Projects,

like Einstein one Day

and Seti 3 Days

at this time BOINC uses only the last Profile at Date, so if you have

Connect to network about every 3 Days in BOINC at 13.08

and

Connect to network about every 1 Day at 12.08

BOINC use in all cases th last Profile, this is the 13.08 for all BOINC Projects....

This have to change i think, or i have missed somethink...

Greetings from Germany NRW
Ulli

That setting would be useful by location or by computer.
Either one would help balance the work queue between fast & slow machines or ones that don't run Boinc 100% of the time.

I'm dealing with the issue between my (somewhat) fast P4 and an Athlon 900 MHz.

Currently, the Athlon has lots of work to crunch & the P4 ran out of SETI work because the server isn't giving any new work units.
This is the voice of world control. I bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied dead. The choice is yours.

Mostly because this change would complicate matters for everyone. This means that to change teh connect every XX days for all projects (which is normal) the user would have to visit every project to do so. Connect every X days is intended mostly for modem users (or others that are mostly disconnected) as a way of indicating how often they connect their computers to the internet to send results and receive more work.
