I wonder too when the miracle is gonna happen that things are doing what they ought to, but there's always Murphy... Greetings, HP |

Read the tech news from June 30, 2005 - 17:00 UTC, this might explain it. |

Ah, yes, I remember that post, now that you point it out. Hopefully, the gurus will be arriving at the lab shortly and will kick the system again. ...Whit |

[sarcasm mode on] (in case someone overlooks) It is not updating, because it looks so stunning good in green ;) [sarcasm mode off] Just be a bit patient, things will sort out again :) Aloha, Uli |

It looks like "Penguin" could really use some help. To have one kinda small machine working 12 major processes seems silly. "Penguin" should be a 6-CPU with lots of RAM to handle all that. Anybody have another E3500 to donate to SETI? ...Whit |

It looks like "Penguin" could really use some help. To have one kinda small machine working 12 major processes seems silly. "Penguin" should be a 6-CPU with lots of RAM to handle all that. Oddly enough, penguin is probably the machine with the lightest load and least memory being used at this point. Of course, bottlenecks are abounds and adding more to this machine wouldn't really solve much. - Matt -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. Just saw that all the transitioners were disabled... For now it reports: Ready to send 95,445 In progress 1,023,429 Waiting for validation 573,231 Transitioner backlog 2 hours Wonder if this will ease the pressure of db checking to let the validators get through properly to lighten the nifty 573231 results waiting for validation :) //Vyper _________________________________________________________________________ Addicted to SETI crunching! Matt -- Thank you for that insight. I was amazed to learn that those processes were so small as to not be RAM-bound and/or CPU-bound. I was also amazed that you have/took the time to read/reply. We all appreciate what you are doing, and really appreciate these insights. We all hunger for your tidbits of knowledgeable "inside" information. -- Whit |

Based on the Technical News: The bottom line is we need to clean up the directories. We are currently producing a half million results per day, but validating a bit less. I assume that the 725,202 awaiting validation today are not the same 702,820 that were awaiting validation yesterday; but that 500,000 or so were processed off the top while 500,000+ new were added to the bottom. ...don |

I assume that the 725,202 awaiting validation today are not the same 702,820 that were awaiting validation yesterday; but that 500,000 or so were processed off the top while 500,000+ new were added to the bottom. From the result list it appears that they are at the moment validating results which were sent out on or before August, 3rd. So I think most of the 725k results waiting for validation are still the same... |
