I got this message when I switched on this morning can someone explain it please. 19/07/2005 08:38:34|SETI@home|Result 07fe05aa.21211.9297.884652.240_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 19/07/2005 08:38:34|SETI@home|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. It then resumed 07fe05aa etc, is this problen due to the connection faults. As I have just uploaded one, have two to upload and two to download. I had one downloaded after one which is still to be downloaded funny or what. |

I got this message when I switched on this morning can someone explain it please. Nope. I get it every few weeks or so with the occasional Work Unit. If it keeps occuring over & over with a particular unit, and if you abort that unit & it occurs over & over with another- then it's time to reset the project. Grant Darwin NT |

I got this message when I switched on this morning can someone explain it please. Madmac, See here in the Wiki, it says it all (I think). Don't reset your project just because you get a few of these errors, but, as the above linked article suggests, if you are getting lots of them, then an investigation is in order. I think it's fair to say that most of us have had this error more than once. I panicked a bit once when it happened a lot for one of my Climate prediction units, but, I wasn't up for dumping two months crunching, and saw the work through, which reported OK in the end. Ken Ken Phillips BOINC question? Look here "The beginning is the most important part of the work." - Plato |

can someone explain this please It is caused by this line: 19/07/2005 12:58:29||Can't resolve hostname [setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu] valid name, no data record of requested type That is a DNS error, your computer couldn't find a DNS entry (IP address) for setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu. Usual causes: Computer not connected to internet Internet connection failure ISP's DNS servers have had a brain fart Someone else's DNS servers have had a brain fart DNS server to busy to respond to request SETI is offline ... ... ... Basically, for any one of many reasons, the lookup failed. |

Thanks for the info, I am on broadband, so it could not be my end so it must be SETI's fault. As I stated in my first piece uploads and downloads are causing my computer problems. With downloads being done out of sync and my account says that I have downloaded them no client error so something is wrong. |

If your ISP's DNS server barfs or loses its way, well, this is the error you will get. Your router can also cause this ... the reason I know that one ... is because mine lost its marbles once and this was the error. Oh, windows sometimes loses part of the communication stack and that can cause it too ... |
