When I view my personal stats on this new site it says I haven't completed any units since March. I've been crunching steadily since May 1999. I'm sill using the Seti@Home client since I've received no notice that I must change. Seti@Home says I've completed 2258 units as of Jun 8th. Would you clear this up please. P.S. What happened to the individual rankings? |

I take it you are talking about Classic credits hummmm, well your credits are still there, after Classic ends, Berkeley will take another snap shot of the DB and transfer the credit your the Boinc accts.... Check this link for stats Boinc Stats Page Semper Eadem So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride. Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No. |

So what happens to my credits I have after what seems to be a March 2005 cut-off date? I have logged in more units since then and it doesn't reflect on the website even if it reflects on my Seti Classic. Can't we just revert back to the classic? BOINC is not really doing anything. It cannot calculate credits correctly? It has a hard time connecting to the server. When my BOINC communicates it seems to send the result several times before it can manage to send or get new units. BOINC can't even show user statistics. SETI was doing fine without BOINC, why change something working with something faulty? The WU count and Hours worked are transferred in occasional snapshots. They will be updated again after classic is shutdown permanently. BOINC WIKI |

Looking at various postings in this forum it does rather look as if this change over ain't working . I could care less about ratings but I do like to see my totals . In future I shall not be bothering to chase up downloads when my Seti@home finishes a run , it'll just have to wait until I need to go on line or maybe I'll try that Prime number project instead . |

So do I have to install BOINC now or what? I really don't want some bloated generic do all thing. I signed on for Seti@home and the "classic" client is all I need or want. Also, why isn't there any notification from "officialtom" about these things and why can't I talk to them directly? |

So do I have to install BOINC now or what? I really don't want some From the Technical News: In case you haven't noticed, we recently changed the URL setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu - instead of pointing to the old SETI@home "classic" project, it now leads users to the new BOINC-based version. As expected, this vastly increased the number of new users joining the BOINC project, and therefore increased the strain on our back-end servers. Soon we will stop new classic account sign-ups altogether, and eventually stop accepting classic results outright (with advance warning) - each step potentially increasing the demands on our hardware. It is clear S@H Classic will stop. The new software of Boinc gives a lot of more possibilities to use, like participating in other projects, is much more flexible (abort a WU, suspend a WU, not asking new work for a specific project, suspend a project or a WU, ....). These features are not available in S@H Classic. |
