I'm new to the BOINC scene. I had been running the old Seti client and was away from it for a couple years and recently came back to running Seti (BOINC). I understand I can optimize for my system but can't seem to find any info on how to do so. Would anyone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction!?!? System: AMD Athalon 2600+ (1.9 GHZ) Asus A7V8X-X system board TIA |

Would anyone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction!?!? I'm going to play devil's advocate a bit. The optimized science applications are nice, but not strictly necessary. You might want to build a little time before you adopt them. Also, you won't get new versions of the SETI App. automatically if you run the optimized clients. If you only do SETI, you might want to go into "your account" on the SETI site and set "connect every 'x' days" to something like 4. If you want to do more than one project, something less than 1 is probably really good. |

Thanks for the info folks...I appreciate it. I'm going to take Ned's advice and sit tight for a while. I'm not a programmer, but I work with a bunch (who work on both windows and linux/unix platforms). So I think I'll talk to them, learn a little more about the subject and then make a decision later. At least now I have a good starting point for my reading.... :) It matters not how straight the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. ~William Henley~ |
