The official site! A British site. Notice car no. 3: with Jyrki Jarvilehto, Marco Werner, Tom Kristensen! Can Tom Kristensen winn again and make Le Man history by being the first driver ever to winn Le Man 7 times, and then beat Jacky Ickx' and his own record of 6 victories??? Fingers crossed! So you're interested in motor sports? Big surprise :) Please also notice car no. 2 of the same team. Drivers: Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biela, Allan McNish Frank Biela comes from Neuss, a German city where I was born (nearby), too. It's a small world ;) |

I tend to enjoy watching the GT-1 cars because these are street type cars. I especially like watching the #63 and #64 Chevy Corvettes giving the Ferarris, Porches and Saleens a general ass kicking as they have for the past 4 years. And to boot they beat the crap out of most of the prototypes too. GO! Team Corvette! - Mr. anon |

I think Tom Kristensen drove with him some times! Why is that a surprise that I like Le Man? Let's just ignore the blasphemous Americans and their cheap jokes (even they have their own Daytona 24 hour race!), and talk about Le Man! I'm faschinated by this 24 hour race as it's all depending, not only on the car and the driver, but the 3 drivers, both individually and together as a team, the mechanics, the ingeneers, the whole crew, and the car, the hardware and the software in the computers in the car! In a normal formel 1 race, the car only have to last the few minutes, the race last, so it doesn't matter if it falls to pieces right after driving over the finishing line! In the 24 hour races, the car has to last all 24 hours! I remember one year, where John Nielsen, who won back in 1990, and his crew were in a very comfortably lead, but just before Sunday noon, the car broke down! Bad luck! And the whole victory is depending on the crew, how the car behave and the drivers all together, and I'm amazed every time I see the crew pump fuel and change the tires, and the drivers replace each other for the next stint in less than a minute! And the competition can change entirely by a longer stay in pit, where the nearest competitor team can increase their lead! And I usually see the start Saturday 4 pm and the first couple of hours and then I change the channel to something else on tv, mostly a movie, because Saturday evening is rather dull to watch, as the situation is too early to say anything about the lead. So, after the movie, about 1 am, I change back to the Le Man race, because it's faschinating to see the night race. I really enjoy when they show from one of the cameras in one of the cars! I remember back when there wasn't so many chicanes on the longest stretch, where the cameras there showed how fast the cars were driving! John Nielsen was out there one night and he was shocked, as he didn't feel the speed so much driving the car, but standing there, he realized how fast the speed was! Then, when the day dawn, and that's funny, because it's earlier dawn here, as we're higher up north, so it's all daylight outside, when I can see the sundawn down in France! This hour is fantastic to watch! And after the night, where they can drive the fastests rounds, the positions in the race have stabilized, and then I go to bed and sleep about 4 hours. So, after waking up, I'm very excited, how the teams are placed, and when Tom is driving, I'm, of course, excited to hear if he had kept his place! So then I make coffee and breakfast, and then I watch the rest of the race untill the end! And the past 5 years the transmissions have continued as Tom had won with interviews and all! I love it! And I also watch the finals in tennis in Wimbledon, so that's soon also! Plus some of the preliminary matches! Soccer is not my game, as I only watch it when I'm together with someone else, who watch it. But I saw the final match in the Europe cup in 1992! ;-) But I really enjoy to watch womens handball! Most of the women I know are not very much interested in motor sport.
Yeah, thats true. It's the whole team performing services. This is a completly different thing.
Hmm, this has changed lately. They have changed the rules in 2005. At least the engine has to last for 2 races now.
Yeah, that's the true spirit of endurance racing. And it's a very special atmosphere, you can feel it when you're walking down the pit. Long time ago, in these days I did some motorcycle racing, I took part in a 24 hours racing (motorcycles) which happens to be in Magny Cours, France. There was 4 riders in a team, and some other people which helped us as mechanics und such things. There's so much one has to think of, but it's an experience I will never forget for the rest of my life. |

How many women do you know who are interested in distributed computersystems also? I'm one of a kind, you know! ;-)
I didn't know that! I'm really not that much into motorsports!
Yes, I guess it must have been an experience, one will cherish and think back on for the rest of one's life! The same with skydiving, BTW! I prefer to sit at home in the comfort of my own livingroom and watch this race, but I can very well imagine that being there must be something very special! :-) "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Just to stuff it up the Yanks..... Henry Ford pumped millions into the Ford attack on Le-Mans with the GT40 but didn't achieve success until he employed a BRITISH TEAM to completely overhaul and re-vamp his effort. Join the #1 UAE Team. |
