I'm sure a while ago, when I posted replies, I did not get a 'new posts' icon against the thread for my own reply? Now I do.
Is this a message board change, or something FireFox does diffently?

Possibly just a timing quirk.

Sometimes I see my replies marking a thread as unread, sometimes not.

Edit: On this occasion, reloading and I saw the thread as unread.
Edit2: Checking again after the edit, it is marked as already read.

Good luck,
Martin

Yeah I have seen this sometimes too. Not using Firefox so seems to be server/boards related. No big deal though.
