Wait and see!

For a statistics table there has to be some data, and as nothing was collected so far, where should it come from?

Tomorrow will probably be the first day with something to see, but I think, it'll still be not that interesting ;)

No problems here. Just closed down BOINC, deleted 4.25 that I was running. Installed 4.30 and away it went with all three projects loking good at the moment.

I did not do a clean install on the four units. Installed over
4.27 or .29 I forget...

I think for a proper test that is the way to go.

I will try another Machine and do a clean install to see what happens...

4.30 loaded and runnning all day, Uploads/downloads Ok, Stats not working yet-being patient.

Note: 4.30 is in Developmental status and can be buggy, if you aren't willing to risk strange things happening, please stay with "Official Release" clients.

Tony I hope the warning was not intended for me?

I did a clean install On a differnt machine and as always I get he same problems

When BOINC Manger First runs the Manager shows can't connect
When I check Task Manger all is running just fine.
I end BOINC Manager through Task Manager and Re start it
All shows working and no problems.
I restart Machine and BOINC installs as a sevice hidden from view, I check Task Manger and again all is working well.
BOINC Manager
BOINC.EXE
and
WU
All is working.

This is the same problem I have had in the past
It can't be just me.

All Machines are WXP
BOTH AMD and Intel CPU's.. I dosn't matter.

I installed as "Single User" and have had no trouble with 4.20 , etc, etc, 4.25, 4.27, and now 4.30. Did you install as service? or shared? I don't know how to help you. it's above my skill level. i would if I could

I run Solaris 8 on several Sparc machines. I have gcc 3.4.2 and the associated libraries loaded. The old seti version ran fine, but I haven't been able to get a working version of the BOINC version at all. One missing library after another.
4.30:
run_client
ld.so.1: ./boinc: fatal: relocation error: file ./boinc: synbol _libc_register_forkhandler: reference symbol not found
boincmgr
ld.so.1: ./boincmgr: fatal: libXpm.so.4.11: open failed: No such file or directory

which are similar problems to the previous versions libstdc++.so.3 missing library, which actuall doesn't exist on sunfreeware as a searchable entity.

Let's make it hard for long time Unix users to get up with the new system.

The new Framework for separate GUIs looks interesting. I wonder if this will spawn off more 3rd party GUIs?

But 4.30 has to resolve more of the known issues before I switch from 4.19...

I've had this problem, of not been able to connect when first run, it also happens after re-boot, have done little search on web and think it is probably my firewall/antivirus software. I think it stops all connections until it decides it and Boinc are safe.

Just a thought for you to consider.

My main problem with the new BOINC is that it doesnt remember anything from previous installs - of itself.

It DOESNT remember the install directory (I never use the defaults - so mine is on D:program filesBOINC) - it never remembers

It DOESNT remember the old settings for service/shared (I always use service)

It DOESNT remember the service credentials - I know they are passwords, but it could just check whats there and it its ok leave it alone

It KEEPS offering to be my screen saver AND run all the time - I have to re-untick them every time

Its simple - please remove these annoyances - as a World top 10 user I have a lot of machines to update, this is a pain.

How do you know they arn't fixed unless you give it a try?

Seriously though, from watching the code check-ins over the past few weeks, I can assure you that _much_ more code/functionality has been changed than is reflected in the release notes.
