Hi, sorry if this was posted already here. This is like one of those freeipod things, except this one is a free mini mac. Whether you like Macs or not, hey it's free and you can just use it to crunch BOINC data =) If you're interested, I would suggest using a separate email account (not sure how much spam you'll get, if any). Once you sign up, you have to complete an offer, and get 1o other people to do the same. I would recommend doing the Columbia House DVD offer, then just canceling it once you receive the order. Their customer service was actually pretty good, just tell them you made a mistake and they'll have you send it back. I hope that helps anyone who is interested. I'd appreciate it if yo used me as a referral though, haha, but no hard feelings if not. http://www.FreeMiniMacs.com/?r=14041278 Anyway, I'll bookmark this forum so if anyone has any questions I'll try to get back to it as soon as possible. http://www.fullarticulation.net [3d gallery and such] |

Tis not a scam. If it bothers you that much don't do it, that simple. |

> Tis not a scam. If it bothers you that much don't do it, that simple. > They offer valuable goods-for example, computers, other electronic items, and long-distance phone cards-for free. You're asked to pay a fee to join a club, then told that to earn the offered goods, you have to bring in a certain number of participants. You're paying for the right to earn income by recruiting other participants, but your payoff is in goods, not money. The scam: Most of these messages are covering up pyramid schemes, operations that inevitably collapse. Almost all of the payoff goes to the promoters and little or none to consumers who pay to participate. If it is real and not a scam then Show me..... Give us a break....Reckless It's a scam so don't post this stuff here..... For this particular website, FreeMiniMacs.com, users must do the following to be eligible to get approval to receive their free product: * i. Complete and get credit for at least one offer themselves. * ii. Refer at least 10 unique people who join and also correctly complete an offer under the terms listed in this document. (b) After a user signs up with our website and successfully completes an offer, they must get 10 people to also sign up with our website and successfully complete an offer to get their free item. In order to connect these referrals to the original user, we issue this user a unique link to our offer site, which they must then distribute to the intended parties. Thus, the user is entirely responsible for all communications regarding our offer sites. At no point during the offer process does Gratis Internet send out any communications on the user's behalf to encourage such signups to occur. |

Yes I agree with your concerns about this. If you're really worried about your security, then I'd just say pass on this because you do give out your credit card number to complete an offer. It is true that the cost that goes into getting the free mac is paid for by completing the deals. That's why I did the Columbia House deal, then just cancelled and returned it once I got it. Just be nice when you call up their customer service and say something like you didn't want it, they were pretty good about it. As far as the validity of this offer goes, 2 of my friends already received free ipods from the freeipod.com site (granted the ipod deal only requires 5 people to sign up under your account). It's not a scam, though indeed it is probably a spam (which is why I used an alternative email account). I hope this helps to clear up some confusion. Again, I don't want this to become a flame thread, I just wanna get a free mac =) Peace |

Pyramid scheme then. You get 10 people to follow you, you get the miniMac. The rest loses out. Go take a hike. Not spam, NA, it's a scam. :) |

If it's clogging up the Forum, it's spam. Let me guess... his ISP blocked him from Usenet, right? |

> > Peace > Reckless, I understand your wanting this but If you already cancelled without following through with the deal, I garentee you wont get your Mac. The Evidence is too strong to refute.... I have seen many a scam and this is one of them. Respecfully, Tim |

Am I the only one who noticed that what used to be a "medium" sized portion of fries is now called "large"? Once upon a time a super-sized meal and a hamburger meant that I'd be full. Now five minutes pass, and I'm still hungry... And as for the burgers at Checkers, you always remember you had one. >burp!< .o0(Eew... vintage...) [Addendum] And how come they're always giving away free Macs? I've never seen a free PC being given away. I demand a "Free IBM 970fx Dev Board" pyramid scheme! |

One of the things about living in Japan way back when is I got used to ordering the largest of whatever they had by reflex, because it was basically the equivalent of an American medium size. When I came back, I forgot and ordered a large coke I forget where and got a drink about the size of a coffee can. Reverse culture shock. |
