If you are running both projects and didn't changed the preferences, there is no need to set up anything. The default values will give both projects (or more) the same fair amount of CPU usage. I am not sure what you mean when you say 'running both'. Because you wrote about running two projects, I believe you are talking about 'running at the same time'. This will only be possible if you have more then one CPU or a Intel Hyperthread CPU. Running more then one computation at the same time on one CPU will to much scheduling overhead. This makes no sense. Because of this BOINC switches between the projects (at default normally every one hour). Greetings from Bremen/Germany Jens Seidler (TheBigJens) |

so does this mean that when running it will use 100% of my cpu and if i change it to 20 it will use 20% of my cpu? |

Therefore, you can not run 2 projects at the same time. But Boinc will switch between both project by using the so-called resource share. This is done here by using the "Resource share" value. If you put that value for S@H at 200 and for the other project at for example 100, your PC will spend 2/3 of the time for S@H and only 1/3 of the time for the other project. When changing the resource share, you will need to do an "Update" in Boinc. For this last, please refer to the manual of Boinc, look just above my signature. Greetings from Belgium. BOINC always use 100% of the CPU time and split this time in equal parts for every running project, as long as every project has the same 'resource share' value, what is 100 as default. BOINC may run one hour SETI@home, then switch to CPDN and run this for one hour and then again run SETI@home for one hour and so on. At the end of the day both projects where running round about each for 12 hours, together for 24 hours. This means they got the same fair amount of CPU time.
