Hi,
I downloaded and install BOINC some days ago. Some attemts later I even managed to connect to the server. It downloaded some WU, uploaded the results and I got some credits.
But now I'm waiting for more work. It's been some days already and my computer wastes idle-time.

Thanks for advises

How are your setting concerning "Connect to network about every xx days"?

You can find it when you go to "Your Account", "Preferences", "General" "View or edit general preferences", which brings you here.

If this setting is 0.1, you can change it and after this in Boinc you will need to choose "update" in order to bring this value on your PC.

Once you have downloaded a cache of WU's, you can still adapt once again this value in function of what you wish.

Thanks,
it seems it helped. I told BOINC to connect about every 1 day (was 0.3), and now at least it says that there's no work from the project and it will try again.

According to the status page there is lots of work, so you might want to look into that -- there may be another message that says why you can't get work.

Because of the way that Seti BOINC is set up, there may be times when SETI has no WUs available (Each unit only gets crunched until there are 3 agreeing values, vs upwards of 10 times for some Classic units). If you want to continue crunching, and don't mind if from time to time you are running a different project, I would suggest that you sign up for Climate Predictor. This is a VERY long term project (units are due a full year after they are sent out), with VERY large WUs (2-3 weeks constant crunching). If you set your preferences to something like 100 share for SETI and 10 share for CP, then you'll always have something to do if SETI runs out of work, and will still be crunching SETI for 10/11 of the time.

The one down side of this is that you MUST crunch any other projects you are involved in a certain amount of the time; with the current BOINC platform you cannot tell it to crunch CP only if there is no SETI... it's a trade off, unfortunately.

But you can also set it to 100:1 for SETI, and then you'd only crunch 1h CP every 4 or so days.

Welcome to BOINC!!
