It seems the host Merging is not working. I get the page to merge the hosts, but it doesn't display any hosts.... |

And in some cases, like mine, it gets it wrong, and you may have to do it a couple times to get it straight. In my case I had two copies of EQ-1, but Merge would only merge to P4a ... so I did that and kicked it, cause a new host to be generated and this time it let me merge the two EQ-1 machines into the correct single doohickie ... Sorry for the outburst of technical terms ... |

Well, I was thinking of using the less common, but more correct, "multi-tanikled weekerbill" but figured that most people here would not know that term but would be fine with the more common but less precise term. |

Maybe the problem is related to excessive OHS. OHS=operator head space lol tony |

Don't remember where I read it, but you can't merge hosts as long as they are linked to your results in your account result page . So just wait a month or two, until the result page is "refreshed" and then merge your hosts. |

With a little lateral thinking, you can merge almost anything. ;) I've managed to merge two entirely different machines and also one dual-boot machine using Windows and Linux. :) Be lucky Neil |

How? I've tried passing all of BOINC's files between Mac OS X and Yellow Dog Linux, I've tried running from /dev/hdaX/boinc, and I've tried using FTP space as the storage site - How did you pull it off?? |

With the 2 different machines, one a Pentium 120 and the other a Pentium 133, I gave them the same hostname and both were running Linux - although two very different versions. However, that was enough to make them look similar enough to the BOINC server. 2. To merge the Windows "machine", I just copied the BOINC folder from the Windows partition to the Linux one and ran the Linux client from there. It trashed the current WU but, on checking the website, it had made the two "machines" look similar enough to merge them - i.e. it had updated the OS and hostname so that they were the same - and, of course, the CPU already was. The hostnames were already the same except that Windows had tacked the domain name onto the end. ;) Be lucky Neil |

Dang! I've only got the one box, and I tried your Windows<—>Linux trick without any success. [sigh] Oh, well... thanks for the how-to! |
