The Barret-Jackson families are holding their annual premier auction of classic automobiles.

Whether you're a car buff, a prospective buyer, a wanna-be, or you just appreciate that some cars are art forms in the highest sense of the words, you should see this auction.

The best cars from around the world are gathered at this internationally known auction.

You can see the auction action on the net, http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ , or on Speed channel.

Oh, that I was there. (Scottsdale, AZ) 185,000 people were there last year and they spent 38.5 million dollars on those cars.

One never knows what automobiles may go up for sale in any given year. Some of the most sought after automobiles in the world are sold through Barrett-Jackson's auctions. With that in mind, registered buyers this year have submitted letters of credit or bank guarantees for over a half a billion dollars.

But then yesterday, a completely restored 50's era Buick station wagon sold for less than a new honda.. Considering that most of these automobiles will appreciate in value, rather than depreciate,(like the honda), buying one of these vehicles can be a very good investment.

So, while you will see automobiles that may be out of your reach, there are some sold each year that are very good values.

Go look. It's now day 2 of this 5 day event, look for Sunday to have the cream of the crop going across the auction block.

Hello Paul,

So "Now" I know why my Ziggy keeps that 37yr. old Dodge in the garage
and why he only takes it for a few rides in the summertime.

Holy crap! It looks like it's worth $150,000+ or so. I've asked
about it and I really just thought he keeps it so perfect because
it was his first "brand new" car he ever bought. He told me he paid
about $4500 for it in the spring of 1968. It's a 1968 Coronet R/T Hemi.
You know what? I love that car too.

Turning into a "Motorhead",
Dominique

I'm pretty sure that no love can ever be so sincere....

...as the love of food.

I still appreciate a fine automobile, though.

Damn, biggest single day ever for Jackson-Barret today, 9 million in sales.

Saturday and Sunday are when they get to the higher end stuff, if you get a chance to glimpse some of the auction, it's great theater, in addition to all the iron.

An original chev Cameo stepside pickup, V8, factory dual 4 bbls, went across the block today. (one that was real rare, because of the dual carbs and most cameos had a fiberglass factory installed fleetside box).

$ 38,000.oo

That's a big chunk of change, but a like new Cameo will probably last another 50 yrs.

Damn..

I'm driving a 16 yr old truck, only one I ever bought new, and it has had to have extensive mechanical work, needed a motor transplant and rusted through in the first five years. It's about used up, dead. And from what I hear, the new ones are worse.

Next one I have to buy, I'm getting another old one. At least then I'll understand what's under the hood.

..........they -don't- build em like they used to.

For those fearless enough to take a high level dose of automobilic mesmerization-
A visit to this wonderland may hold you there for longer you'd think...the mind reeeels

Gentlemen,

If you really want to spend a few hours looking for some
"Classic Iron" at reasoable prices instead of a graveyard
full of mostly unrestoreable 4dr. sedan rustbuckets, take
a good long look HERE.

Ziggy

thanks,

I'll check em out after Sunday, at the Barret-Jackson auction right now, they're auctioning a Ferrari dino spyder and all the money goes to a childrens charity. Child Help USA

It just opened at 100,000.oo

They do that kind of thing throughout the show, a number of these machines get 'donated' to various causes and the bidders usually respond by paying a premium price.

Pretty neat.

Just sold for $3,000,000 a one-off Harley Earl designed custom
1954 Oldsmobile F88 concept car.

Ziggy

Oh yeah, that's a new record price at Barret-Jackson.

I tore a picture of that car out of a calender, years ago, lots of years ago.

Kept it all those years, just really liked the look of that car. It's hanging on the garage wall still, ...so I look at it all the time, each time thinking what a great car it was.

When I saw it come on the block, I thought, "look at that.... that's........"

When it sold for 3 mil, I thought, "Now I have to toss the picture...." (I won;t though)

The car will be installed in a museum in Colorado, so it will be still available for the public to see.

Four hours of broadcasts tomorrow.

Sunday is supposed to be the big day. Something truly incredible has to show tomorrow to beat today's action.

My Father in law called me the moment that car hit 1 million...asked me if I was going to buy it for my wife LOL.

I told him it would have to wait till I finshed entering into Turbo Tax ;)

Must be nice to have $3 million to spend on a car.

Ashes to ashes
Rust to dust

Humans have devised and refined fiendishly diverse methods for self-torture
We have observed them
Salivating over gastropornographic depictions of savory food items,
Submitting to surgical proceedures to change their appearance,
Engaging in debate over which of their leaders is the most believeable liar,
Wagering on cast dice to secure financial benefit,
And pouring energy and resources into ancient automobiles.

We respectfully request a ten cycle extension of the current survey
Or until it's confirmed the population has been fully subdued by hip-hop
At which time we can follow through with the harvesting schedule.
