Bachelor's Degree from New Mexico State University. Employed with AT&T for 20 years in operations, systems engineering, network systems and data processing support manager. Took early retirement in 1989.

Currently work as database administrator and applications developer for a local Fire District where I also am the webmaster URL: http://www.tvfr.com.

Have always been interested in space. Visited Kennedy Space Center for the third time a couple of years ago. Finally got to watch a shuttle launch (STS108.) That was awesome. Have been to Huntsville. Stopped by Edwards a few years ago, but there wasn't anything interesting going on and did not stay for the NASA tour because I would have had to wait for about 4 hours and I wanted to get to Las Vegas.

I was living in New Mexico when construction began on the VLA. I saw the first dish being built and mounted on tracks. Got the opportunity to visit it on a road trip I took four years ago. Have attached a photo of that occasion. At the time of my visit, the VLA was focused on deep-space objects in the southern sky.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do not know if extraterrestrial life exists. Statistically, it is probable that it does, somewhere, perhaps too far away for contact. Think, however, that it's terribly vain of human-kind to believe they are the only sentient life-form in the universe. I don't think that extraterrestrial life will be discovered in my lifetime. If it is, it will likely be the extraterrestrial life that discovers us. But, who knows?

I run Seti@home on a couple of computers because they are not doing anything particularly interesing just sitting here. They are on most of the time because they are doing other network stuff. Began processing work units in January 2001 and processed over 500 units by year's end. Another year has gone by and I am now up to over 1600.

Keep looking Up!
