Profile: Moana

Personal background
My name is Moana Re, my age is unimportant as is my occupation. My passion is poetry, the trees, the creeks that runs by my house, the song the birds sing first thing in the morning, the sky and all the wonders that it holds. As a child my treat was to be allowed to sleep outdoors (I grew up in Miami, FL) so that I could watch the heavens. I always felt that I was a part of the whole universe and was always comforted by that knowledge. I volunteer to run SETI because I want to know and want to be a part of the everlasting search to find that we are not alone.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, I believe ET is out there and they are wondering the same thing about us. When and how we will discover ET? Well, there are those who feel they already have. But on a practical note I think this would be the wrong century to find ET as we cannot even live with one another. IF indeed we DID find ET, our government would kill it and ask questions later. Possible benefits and dangers are much too numerous to list here.

2. Yes, we humans must transmit a beacon for others to find. Information to send? Hmmmmm Didn't we do this once? I believe it was on a disk and sent in a spacecraft. However, we never asked if ET had a player to play it on did we? I wonder moreover, if ET has already sent us information and signals.

3. I run SETI at home because I want to be a part of the search that I have had since childhood (which was many years ago). I am amazed that we can even run SETI@home and gather information that may absolutley find ET calling home. OR, perhaps waiting for a call from us. Is it our turn to call home? Hmmmmmm
