Living in Stockholm Sweden one of the most beautiful capitals in the world. I am a retired electrical engineer who enjoys life in general.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We only have one Earth and it’s cool that we were all connected running SETI@home, young and old and regardless of nationality.
SETI@home has always been more of a voyage of discovery in space rather than scientific research. To reach far into the universe the technology, use of antenna arrays and correlators, has outdated SETI@home. To continue with SETI@home without being able to observe far enough and without scientific results is just an unethical waste of energy consumption. The development of AI has also made it possible to find anomalies in the normal picture in a completely different and more efficient way.
The search for life will continue with other means and methods. Breakthrough Listen will continue and Breakthrough Starshot is coming in the future.
RIP SETI @ home - it was fun to participate as long as it lasted.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
