Profile: Dr.Citrus

Personal background
Like Star Trek's Dr. McCoy, I'm just an "old country doctor". I've practiced for years (getting most of it right) and now do some consulting work when I'm not tending my garden. One of my first loves was science fiction with it's endlessly varying views of the future, inner and outer space. I believe that what we are capable of starts with what we imagine we are capable of. I started learing DOS back in the days of XT's, and frequently find myself "tinkering" with the four machines I have, trying to figure out just what I am capable of.

PS. I've just moved over to BOINC; it doesnt show that I've completed over 5,000 work units under the old seti@home commandline system! 3/19/05
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I cannot imagine that we are truly alone, though it may be so. My main concern is that our knowledge exceeds our wisdom. If we did make contact, who would speak for us? What would they say? The ramifications are awesome.

I run S@H because maybe the truth is out there: maybe we'll find it; maybe it will find us.
