Profile: William McCoy

Personal background
I don't know if this team is still active, but I saw something about this app on Discovery Science and had to join. My name is William McCoy, but everyone calls me either Billy or Bones. I am originally from Central Arkansas but moved around in my 20's before settling back in Memphis for my second time about 8 years ago. I am 41, a full-time Education major at U of M and I live in Germantown. Guess that's really about it. I like anything science and space related, as long as I don't have to do the math :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because it was explained on "Alien Encounters", and I see the challenges SETI has to overcome processing all the data they gather. I am a big BIG fan of the SETI Institute, and of all the work the many people do there trying to answer the most important question humanity has pondered. I am somewhat skeptical as to whether or not this will be the method by which we actually discover INTELLIGENT life out there, but I do know that we will never know unless we try. Who knows, maybe there are beings out there looking at our little star wondering if there is anyone there. My only suggestion is to keep up the good work, and that the kind of thinking that went into this project is just the kind we need going into the new millennium.
