Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There has to be other life out there and i just don't mean on the microscopic level. I basicaly think we will discover sign's through a signal though that might be some time off since our earliest signal's to leave earth have not reached that far into space. I think once we discover that signal it would be like opening a window and letting all the sounds from outside be heard it would be a revelation. With this project and computers getting faster and smarter all the time i think we could get a signal or find something of importance within the next 100 years. I hope i am still alive to see it if it happens sooner. I can't imagine any dangers in discovering other intelligent life i can only see vast expansion in knowledge. We should set up a beacon either on the new space station or the new space telescope since its planned to sit further out than the hubble. The info it should send would be about the different cultures our scientific knowledge our arts our litrature our address. I run this programme because i believe in it i want to feel i am doing my little bit for the programme if i could afford more computers i would run loads doing this task. This project and the idea about using the pc power around the world to speed up the number crunching is totally out of this world ( excuse the pun )keep up the good work.
