Personal background
I am a college student, attending Florida International University. Since i'm still a freshman, they won't let me choose a major yet, but i'm working towards majoring in Computer Engineering, minors in Physics and Astronomy. i am a devout atheist, and fascinated with pushing the frontiers of science.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
i'm sure that life exists beyond our planet. however, i'm not so confident that we will be able to encounter it. even if there are a million other places with life in the universe, there are so many stars that are desolate and dead in between that we'd be lucky to find even one other instance of life anytime in the near future. doesn't mean we shouldn't try!

i think our one hope of getting anywhere in this universe is the development of functional quantum computation. that's what i want to do research on in the upcoming years. this is an exciting time for science and space exploration...

isn't SETI@home fun? why else would you run it?
