Personal background
Greetings:

I am a 30+ year old, recently married, agricultural engineer living in Alberta, Canada. I am also a part time farmer.

I have worked with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets since 1992 and still believe that it is one of the best youth organizations in Canada.

Aviation has been an interest in my life for a long time and I am a Check Pilot with the Netook Gliding Centre. There we introduce young Air Cadets to the joys of flight.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The whole concept of SETI@home is what got me interested in this project. The developers of this project deserve a hearty pat on the back. It is not easy to get assistance for projects that are so theoretical in nature and the fact that people from all over the world can donate their resources (at a very minimal cost) to a huge research project such as this deserves mention.

Do I think that ET is out there? I would classify myself as an optimistic skeptic. I have my doubts but there is that part of me that grew up on cheesy space TV shows and movies that wishes that it is out there.

The biggest thing about this project that is going to do our world good is the collaborative effort of millions of people across the world to the same ends. We live in a world full of conflict and misunderstanding and it is nice to see that we can work together every once and a while.
