Profile: KDIsom

Personal background
My name is Keith Isom and I am a Systems Architect for a large, international software company. I specialize in java-based SOA/ESB technologies and integration with modern and legacy databases, applications and queuing systems.

I have lived in Switzerland, London and New York City, but now reside in Atlanta GA USA with my family, where we sail (Watkins 29) and ride bikes (I'm on a Trek Pilot). I'm well traveled (over 25 countries on 6 continents) and ever since reading Darwin, Huxley, Dawkins and Sagan - an agnostic.

My wife Shirley is a former Marketing Director, who now stays home and raises our children. She's a figure skater and an avid biker too. Our honeymoon was a week-long ride from Granada to Cordoba in Spain. We saw over 5 billion olive trees. She rides a Trek 5200 WSD - ooh la la.

The image is of our twin boys, Christopher and Andrew. Shirley and I are having a blast with these two healthy and happy kids. See them and some of their cousins on youtube here.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that the universe contains other sentient beings. Dedicating the idle CPUs in my lab to the search for them seems like a reasonable thing to do.

That said, I think a SETI success is fantastically unlikely due to the size and nature of the universe; but it's the only game we have to play.

Perhaps I do it for Carl, to whom I owe much.
